Plein Air Painting
Art Practice
COURSE DESCRIPTION
To hold on to the moments we encounter, we can’t help but save captures of them as we go from place to place. In this course we will be documenting our connections to different locations by turning our chosen places into drawings and paintings. We will be creating art in front of our chosen places as we observe the colors, the light, and our own response. We will also adventure to and explore new locations through Google Earth.
Biology and Art
Art Practice
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Have you ever wondered about how vast worlds within our own bodies work? Our immune system, the lub and dub of our hearts, and the way our cells make the instructions in our DNA come alive so that we can develop, live, and reproduce is fascinating to no end. In this class, we will explore biological systems using art, our story-telling capabilities, and creativity.
In this course, we will find ourselves in Venice, Italy, walking through the corridors of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is one of the most important museums of European and American art of the twentieth century. The collection embraces Cubism, Surrealism, abstract expressionism and the prominent artists represented include Picasso, Miró, Kandinsky, Dali, and Magritte. Throughout the month, will look closely and learn about the works of art in this collection.
